A bright future with LED lights

Energy-saving, durable and environmentally friendly: the future belongs to LED technology. At five to ten years, the service life of an LED light is much longer than that of conventional light bulbs, for example, which give up the ghost after just six or twelve months.

At our stations, depots and other buildings, we are gradually replacing conventional lighting with LEDs and other energy-efficient lights. We have optimized the lighting at many stations across Germany and, in doing so, have hugely reduced the amount of energy we consume.

Shining examples of better climate protection

Wayfinding systems, displays and overhead lighting can all be upgraded. At Essen station we are redoing the entire overhead lighting in the station building, replacing all the lamps with eco-friendly LEDs.

Siegburg/Bonn is another station where we have converted the lighting to energy-saving LEDs.  In new facilities we use LEDs for station lighting from the get-go, and we are converting existing systems to LEDs step by step.

We use LEDs not only at our railway stations but also in our depots. In addition, DB Schenker has completely converted the lighting systems to LEDs at several warehouses.
