Deutsche Bahn also offers its customers climate-friendly mobility solutions beyond the rail - for example the bike sharing system Call a Bike. Over 15,000 bicycles are available for rent and ready to ride in more than 70 cities and at around 300 regional and long-distance train stations. This includes Hamburg and Lüneburg, where the service is called StadtRAD and Stuttgart with RegioRad.

    Cargo e-bikes for climate-friendly transportation

In Hamburg, Lüneburg and Stuttgart, more and more cargo bikes with electric drives are being added to the bicycle fleet. Whether it is for weekly shopping, a trip into the countryside or on the way to daycare with the children - cargo e-bikes are the right choice for fast and climate-friendly transportation in urban areas.

To further enhance the bike sharing experience, the bicycle fleet has been given a product update: For Call a Bikes, this includes the red front basket, for example, which gives cyclists a better view of their baggage. The bottom of the baskets also offers space for solar panels, which provide the smart fitter with climate-friendly energy. This makes borrowing and returning bikes even more convenient. With the app, the bikes can be opened simply by scanning a QR code. The additional LED display also makes it possible to see from a distance whether a bike is available. In addition to modernizing the bikes, the bike fleets in some cities have also been expanded, for example with the new generation of pedelecs in Stuttgart.

Following the switch to a purely stationary system, the bikes can be rented and parked in all cities at physical stations or at stations virtually marked in the app - for a uniform and user-friendly solution throughout Germany.
