Whenever Deutsche Bahn renovates one of its depots, it is also upgraded energetically. Facades are insulated, new windows installed, and modern heating systems implemented. At the DB Cargo depot in Seddin, for example, the hall roof was renewed, reducing annual energy consumption. At the Dessau depot, a solar thermal system for heating and hot water was installed on the hall roof. In the DB Fernverkehr depot in Leipzig and Berlin-Rummelsburg, ventilation systems were upgraded and heating controls adjusted.
