Not all Deutsche Bahn facilities are connected to the power grid. To supply renewable electricity for lighting railroadcrossings today, DB relies on temporary energy systems developed by DB Bahnbau Gruppe.

These systems operate entirely without a grid connection and draw the required electricity from photovoltaic panels or fuel cells. This allows them to function autonomously for months at a time, providing reliable and environmentally friendly lighting for railroad crossings or platforms.
