We don't throw leftovers away – instead, we turn them into green energy. Our staff restaurants are left with uneaten food at the end of every day. Working with our partner LOGEX, we make sure that these leftovers are put to good use, as they consist of high-energy ingredients such as carbohydrates, fat and protein.
Biogas is produced from the residues in corresponding plants. This is further utilised in combined heat and power plants. This produces heat, which is used for heating or for feeding into the power grid via long-distance pipelines. The residue that remains in the units when the fermenting process is finished is used as organic fertilizer for the agricultural sector. This way, even uneaten food can be turned into an environmentally friendly resource.
