Deutsche Bahn sustainably extends the lifecycle of decommissioned laptops, PCs and mobile devices. To do this, a specialized company securely deletes the data on behalf of DB, refurbishes the devices, and ensures they can be reused. This significantly increases the lifespan of IT equipment while saving resources. After all, manufacturing new devices consumes both energy and valuable raw materials such as rare earth elements and metals.
In 2024, DB was able to return nearly 98,000 devices to reuse. These include not only notebooks and PCs but also smartphones and tablets.
