To conserve raw materials, the vehicle maintenance depot in Dessau has developed a special filtration process that reconditions used synthetic oil. A filter cleans the oil so that it can be used again for train maintenance. In 2024 alone, the Dessau depot reconditioned around 8,200 liters of oil with its filtration system, avoiding the purchase of new oil.

In addition, the synthetic oil used is more temperature-stable than mineral oil. For train maintenance, this ensures long-term and reliable use of the oil in the components.
