We are going the extra mile to conserve raw materials. The Dessau maintenance depot has developed a special filtering procedure to reprocess old synthetic oil.
A filter ensures that the oil is cleaned and can thus be used again to service our trains.
The Dessau maintenance depot alone reprocessed up to 16,000 liters of old oil in this way in 2023. In addition, the synthetic oil used has a greater temperature stability than mineral oil, meaning the oil can be used safely on components during train servicing for many years to come.
One converter module of an electric locomotive contains about 100 liters of synthetic oil that can be recycled and reused
