We don't let anyone get thrown on the scrap heap – we give decommissioned laptops, PCs and mobile devices a new life. We have a partnership with a specialist company that deletes data on our behalf following best industry practice, then upgrades the appliances so that they can be used again. This gives IT equipment a much longer lifespan and reduces the consumption of natural resources, as the manufacturing process for new appliances not only requires a lot of energy, but also uses valuable raw materials, such as rare earth elements and metals.
In the past few years, we have been able to recycle more than 114,000 devices annually. In addition to notebooks and PCs, this also includes smartphones and tablets. This equals the CO2 saving of more than 13,000 tons of CO2 compared to the purchase of new devices.
