Our trains take AdBlue

We have been able to substantially reduce pollutant emissions from diesel trains thanks to the latest SCR (selective catalytic reduction) technology for exhaust aftertreatment. This facilitates the conversion of almost all of the nitrogen oxide generated during operation into water vapor and harmless atmospheric nitrogen. The catalytic converters require AdBlue®, a fluid containing urea, to ensure the aftertreatment is effective. DB Energie operates 30 AdBlue® refueling stations for diesel locomotives throughout Germany.
