Dispatchers at Deutsche Bahn determine, among other things, when trains are parked on the correct track and in the right order outside their operating hours. This saves unnecessary shunting and energy.

Deutsche Bahn also continuously reviews how more energy can be saved during parking. For example, the preheating temperature of diesel engines has been lowered for some trains. On ICE trains, air conditioning is reduced during idle periods to save energy.
