  • Automatic start-stop system in locomotives
    End of the slider

Locomotives often have to wait idling while the trains they will later pull are being assembled behind them. To avoid unnecessary diesel consumption, they are equipped with a start-stop system. Similar to a car, the engine automatically shuts off during idling, cutting off the fuel supply. This technology reduces fuel consumption for locomotives equipped with it. All new shunting locomotives from the manufacturer are already delivered with this system installed.
